Cancellations
We understand that unexpected things happen, but we kindly request a 24-hour notice for appointment cancellations. This allows us to fill the appointment time and accommodate other clients. For cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance or no-shows, a deposit may be required for future bookings. Repeated occurrences of late cancellations or no-shows may result in the loss of the deposit. Your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated.
-
Latecomers
We understand that unexpected delays can occur. To ensure we can accommodate all our clients, please notify us as soon as possible if you're running late for your appointment. Arriving more than 15 minutes late may result in a shortened service or rescheduling. To guarantee the full duration of your booked service, we recommend arriving on time.
-
No Shows
We understand that unexpected events can arise. To accommodate our clients, we allow one courtesy cancellation or reschedule per year without penalty. For subsequent no-shows or cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance, a 50% deposit of the service booked will be required for future appointments. Repeated occurrences may result in the forfeit of the deposit.
-
Refunds
We strive for client satisfaction. If you're unhappy with your service, please contact us within one week of your appointment. We'll do our best to address your concerns with a complimentary adjustment. Due to the customized nature of our services, refunds are generally not provided. However, we're committed to ensuring your complete satisfaction.

Illness
For the safety of the S Charles Beauty Co community, please contact Jazmine immediately to reschedule if you are experiencing any symptoms of illness (fever, cough, congestion, etc.). While we appreciate 24 hours' notice, if you notify us before your appointment time that you are ill, the cancellation fee will be waived, and your deposit will be saved for your rescheduled appointment. Note that a failure to provide notice (a no-show) will result in the full no-show fee. Additionally, we reserve the right to refuse service if a client arrives visibly ill, requiring them to reschedule per this policy.

Photos
We value your privacy and respect your image rights. By consenting, clients allow us to use their photos for marketing purposes. Images will only be used with appropriate credit and can be removed upon request. We maintain ownership of all images created by or for the salon.

-
How should I prepare my hair for my appointment?
Whether you’re coming in for a cut or color it’s good to make sure your hair isn’t too dirty. That way we can see your hair in its natural state and color.
-
What should I wear to my appointment?
Please make sure when you come in for a haircut or color you don’t wear anything with a high neck, a hood, or a collar you can’t fold down. If you’re getting color please try to avoid wearing anything white.
Hair Color Service
-
What is the difference between different color services (e.g., Balayage vs. Highlights)?
All over color generally means a color applied from roots to ends of your hair. A root retouch generally means applying color to less than two inches of hair from your scalp. Highlights and balayage are both lightening techniques used to add dimension to your hair. Balayage refers to a handpainted more lived in look and highlights are traditionally a more high maintenance blonde look.
-
How long will my color appointment take?
Color services vary widely. A simple root touch-up might take 1.5 hours, while a detailed balayage, full highlights, or complex color can take anywhere from 2.5 to 4 hours, not including any haircut or styling time. Consultations help take the guesswork out of this!
-
Will coloring my hair damage it?
All chemical processes cause some level of stress to the hair. However, I use only high-quality, professional-grade products and frequently use bond-building treatments to maintain and rebuild the integrity of your hair during the process. We prioritize hair health over aggressive, rapid results.
-
How do I maintain my hair color to prevent fading?
The best way to maintain your color is by using color-safe, sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners, washing in cool or lukewarm water, and always applying a heat protectant before styling.
-
What is a "color correction," and how long does it take/cost?
A color correction is exactly what it sounds like, correcting something you don’t like. During our color consultation we’ll talk about the steps necessary to reach your dream outcome and how long it will take. It could be as simple as one longer appointment or a few appointments staggered out. But the goal is always to preserve the health of your hair and to do everything in the safest way possible.
-
How often will I need to come in for touch-ups/maintenance?
This depends on you and your maintenance level. Root retouches can be 4-8 weeks, with the option of doing all over every couple of visits to keep things fresh. Balayage/highlights can be anywhere from 6 weeks to once a year with toners done quarterly when you get your hair trimmed.
Vivid & Fashion Hair Color Service
-
What exactly are "vivid", "fashion" or "creative" colors?
Vivid colors generally are referring to semi permanent fashion colors ranging all the colors of the rainbow!
-
Does my hair need to be bleached/lightened for vivid colors?
For the longest lasting, most vibrant results I would say yes. Because vivids tend to be semi permanent we need to lift the hair cuticle in order for the color to take and hold for longer than a few washes.
-
How long does a vivid hair service take?
Vivid hair is an extremely time-intensive process. It requires multiple steps: lightening, rinsing, deep conditioning, and then the color application, which is often applied in detailed sections. Expect a vivid service to take 4 to 8+ hours, and sometimes multiple sessions are required to reach the desired lightness before coloring.
-
What is the best way to care for vivid hair at home?
This is the most crucial part of maintaining your color! We can do everything right at the salon, but proper home maintenance is so important. Always wash your hair with cold or cool water and use color-safe, sulfate-free products. Shampoo as infrequently as possible (1-2 times per week is ideal). Minimize heat styling and always use a heat protectant. We can also suggest a custom color-depositing conditioner for you to use at home to refresh your shade.
-
Can I swim in chlorine or saltwater with vivid hair?
It is strongly advised to avoid swimming in chlorine and saltwater. These elements can rapidly strip the vivid color from your hair and may even cause a chemical reaction that changes the tone (e.g., turning blue hair to green). If you must swim, wet your hair with fresh water and coat it with a leave-in conditioner before getting in the pool/ocean.
-
What is the maintenance/touch-up schedule for vivid colors?
This is why consultations are so important. We can give you the perfect solution to your ideal touch-up schedule. Ideally vivid clients would come in every 8 weeks for some kind of touch-up, which could mean an all over vivid color application without lightening again or the whole shebang everytime.
Styling and Cutting
-
Can you "fix" split ends?
Unfortunately, split ends cannot be "fixed" or fused back together once the hair strand has split. The only way to truly eliminate split ends and stop the damage from traveling further up the hair shaft is to cut them off with a professional trim or haircut. I always prioritize the health of your hair, and regular trims are the best prevention.
-
Do you use thinning shears (texturizing shears)?
Generally speaking I only use texturizing shears on shorter cuts. I don’t prefer to use them on thicker hair.
-
What do you do if you don’t use texturzing shears?
I use a variety of techniques to remove bulk, but I prefer to use regular shears so I can tailor the techniques to your hair and desired outcome.
-
Do you use a razor?
I’m not a certified barber so I don’t do straight razor shaves, but I do enjoy using a razor for cutting hair!
-

-
Do you do short cuts and/or clipper cuts?
I do! There are some things that I would recommend a regular barber for, but I can do everything from skin fades to piecey pixies!
-
How often should I get my hair cut?
Generally I recommend at least once every 3 months or once a season, but for shorter or more stylized cuts it could be 4-8 weeks.
-
Which haircut service should I book?
Clipper cut/short cut is for haircuts above the ear. This doesn’t include a shampoo or blowdry, and has very basic styling. Haircuts without a blow dry are for basic trims and minor changes. Depending on your hair it might be optimal to do a dry cut. Tailored haircuts are best for big changes or people who like their hair styled.
-
How should I come in for a haircut?
Please come in with your hair how you normally wear it and make sure it’s not too dirty.
-
What’s the difference between layers and texturizing?
Layers and texturizing by definition are the same thing, they remove weight. Layers are best if you’re a person that styles your hair or your texture allows for it. Texturizing is better for my low maintenance people who want all the benefits of layering without the need to style their hair.
